Meet some domestic terrorists

****Update: Thanks, saysuncle for the link! Those visiting from there might read the comments section in this thread for my views about guns; I am not against them as the blogger who directed you here so inaccurately portrayed. This post also recognized the fact that the picture was originally from a left-wing source-- at least that's what the Secret Service told me when I talked to them yesterday AM.****

After the outrage over the Post cartoon from last week, Alan Keyes had the nerve (there's not a strong enough word to describe his actions) to say more hate-filled, violence-inciting things about our president.

I'm not wasting my blog space posting the youtube video with Keyes' lies and insanity. And he's still on about Obama not being a US citizen.

Makes my blood boil every time I hear about it.

Secondly and more importantly, the free republic (dot com) is a website that is slowly sowing the seeds of a presidential assassination. Yes, you read that right.

***And let me say this to anyone who wants to minimize this or make excuses for these rightwing domestic terrorists-- your comments will be deleted. This post is not open for debate.***

Comments, yes. Debate, no.

If anyone reading this has any doubt as to the violent image the online GOP is fomenting for itself, here's proof.

This is that group of folks in their own words.

I've left the links intact; feel free to read them if you don't care about losing your breakfast or lunch.

Here's an excerpt from one of the escalating threads responding to Keyes' lunatic, fringe rants:

We need to be perfectly clear that by “stopping” him we mean using political means to stop his political agenda.

Nothing to the contrary is suggested. However, one can still recognize that the course we are on will ultimately lead to the destruction of our constitutioonal [sic] republic, chaos and potential civil war, without advocating them in the least.

Clearly, we must educate those round us as to the true nature of the crisis and problem so that the people themselves can begin the turn-around with the elections of 2010 and sweep into full effect in 2012.

I believe that is exactly what Keys [sic] is trying to help do...and he speaks the truth in so doiung [sic].

why do you feel the need to “make that perfectly clear”? Where has anyone suggested otherwise?

Political means are covered by The Three Boxes:

The soap box

The ballot box

The cartridge box

This isn't free speech; this is a threat against our president and our politicians. That gun looks illegal, too.

This pissed me off so much, I called the local office of the Secret Service and reported it. The agent I spoke to said they were aware of this organization and that they (and those who post there) had been investigated before. "We're aware of them and their activities" the agent said.

Apparently, this picture is an old one from a left-wing group during the Bush years, the agent told me. It's getting recycled and used by right-wing extremists now that Obama is in office.

I'd feel the same way if I had known about this when Bush was president.

Here's a particularly scary reply, so riddled with lies and misinformation:

We’ve got a civil war brewing on our border that will bring millions of refugees to America. Our borders are still being ignored. Zero has ACORN using anarchist tactics to sieze homes now. He’s deliberately causing the collapse of our entire economy. We’re importing muslims at an alarming rate. Zero is totally erratic in his foreign policy dealings. And Last but not least he seems to want to enrage the American public.

Now more than ever, we must stay vigilant of the blogosphere. These crazies are armed, pissed, and ready for civil war. I for one, am not going to sit idly by and let them accomplish their radical agenda.

Completely. Totally. Crazy.

Its good that you are putting this out there to be seen. Be careful though. If these assholes will target a sitting president, they wouldnt be below targeting a Grad Student. If you go to AAII and scroll back a couple posts, there is a link to the Obama Website. You could post this there, so that his people could see it directly.

I am with you. I didnt like Bush either, but I never advocated something like this. I just wanted him impeached. Its amazing how selfish some people are, that they would advocate an unlawful act like this that would destablilize their own country and for what? So a bunch of Fat White Tax Rebels can feel superior just before I country collapses under its own weight of idiocy?

Maybe these jerks should read the story about Judge Solomon and the Baby. The real mother was willing to let her baby go instead of seeing it ripped in two so that each may have half the baby.

They obviously don't love their country enough, to let go of their hatred, so that the country wouldnt be ripped in two.

Good job Skye. Who is the group planning on marching? Would you give me the link? I'd like to contact some friends about this about a counter.

skyewriter February 23, 2009 at 12:55 PM

Thanks for looking out for me, Seeing Eye. I posted a link on the Obama Forum.

Catherine:
Here's the link about the march as posted on Free Republic:

The more I look through the comments on the FR thread the scarier it gets. There's some really crazy, delusional people on there talking about stockpiling weapons and over throwing the government.

skyewriter February 23, 2009 at 1:13 PM

Here's another interesting protest being promoted by FR:

OK, will use my contacts. thanks very much. An appropriate response is required.

I hope you don't mind, I posted a portion of your post on my blog an referred people to you for the entire post.

People need to call out these cockroaches because when the light shines on them, i guarantee you they run!

By the way, Maximus is a gun blogger. Are you surprised?

skyewriter February 23, 2009 at 2:13 PM

Thanks, Catherine.

Gee, why am I not surprised that Maximus is gun blogger?

I'm totally fine with legal, registered, responsible people having firearms.

But a lot of comments on the thread in this post are related to having guns "to keep leverage against the government".

Isn't one of their primary (public) arguments is that they need guns to protect themselves from criminals? Seems like they need look no further than the closest mirror...

Paranoid whackos.

Anonymous,  February 23, 2009 at 2:31 PM

I have no issue with gun owners either. My issue is with the right wingnut bloggers who desceded on my blog like locusts. When i started looking at theirs I was really rather alarmed. They are abusive, beligerent and very, very angry people.

They have posted that if any writes that they may be in favor of even slight gun control, they should abuse their blogs, etc.

That is not a democracy, that is a bunch of thugs and these thugs are criminals now. I hope the secret service nails them to the wall.

They give responsible gun owners a very bad image.

skyewriter February 23, 2009 at 3:35 PM

Catherine:
I think we're on the same page about gun ownership/responsibility.

I know you've had more than your share of their garbage.

I admire the fact that you have kept your comments open; I know it's been exhausting.

**electric funk; I'm not going to explain myself on MY blog; but I can see how you could interpret what I wrote as you did.

As I said; this is not open for debate. Threatening elected officials with violence is a felony. The Secret Service has been notified. End of discussion.

Anonymous,  February 23, 2009 at 4:56 PM

My sentiments exactly. When that chimp cartoon came out, I blogged about that and initially named it "The Terrorists Amongst Us."

I truly believe these people are terrorists...they incite people to hatred and are calling for violence.

It's amazing how threatened people (and this is mostly extreme right-wing, white people) are by Obama. They are the ones Palin whipped into a lynch-mob frenzy. They are dangerous and she was dangerous to go there.

I've read some of the things being done to protect our president. He wore a bullet-resistant suit (looked like a normal suite) at the inauguration. On election night, he and his whole family and the Bidens were surrounded by bullet-proof glass. In fact, a LOT of that stuff has been ordered and is being put to use. The Secret Service is taking extraordinary measures to protect him.

I wonder why the main stream media is not exposing these dangerous people. Perhaps they don't want to make things worse. I would imagine the Secret Service is keeping tabs on them. If they make threats, they should be hauled off to jail.

It's sad to see such hatred in our country and such ignorance. I don't think I realized just how much ignorance there was before this election.

skyewriter February 23, 2009 at 5:03 PM

What is even freakier is that these people think *we* are the ones who are out to destroy our country.

Just today on FR I read a comment by someone who wrote that he/she didn't hate Obama as much as those "idiot, un-American ass holes" who voted "the commie" into the White House.

Not only are they gunning for politicians, it seems everyday Americans are in their rifle scopes as well.

I think it's part of our duty, too, to keep our eyes on these groups. Someone on the FR said they get extreme comments frequently but are sure to *delete* them.

What about reporting those whackos instead of just sending them to the round file? Patriotic? I don't think so...

Anonymous,  February 23, 2009 at 5:47 PM

There is a fundamental disconnect for me, when Patriot is defined so narrowly--The whole premise of all American Citizens of legal age, with the right to vote, is to vote our conscience.

I understand their arguments from a limited, Hypothetical, historical standpoint regarding the government. Sure the founding fathers were very suspicious of a strong, centralized government, but they quickly learned that a 1/3rd of this continent could not be managed by individual states without that central governing agency.

What you are looking at are Dangerous, Angry, Disaffected people who fear change and who fear Minorities in power. Whether that minority be women, black gay, whatever--if it ain't white and thumping a Bible {Their Way} then it must be bad.

These are the same assholes who cultivated and encouraged someone like Timothy McVeigh. The reason that Mainstream press is staying out of this, is that we know attention only encourages them. Then it becomes a contest to see what horrible thing they can do to get the most media coverage.

I do hope the Secret Service gets on the ball and starts doing interviews and investigations. As a responsible gun owner, a law abiding citizen and a vet--I am alarmed at what I see here. If they had been thumping the Q'oran and not the Bible, all these jerks would be in the Gitmo by now.

Anonymous,  February 23, 2009 at 10:26 PM

Good God. I'm horrified.

skyewriter February 23, 2009 at 10:37 PM

It is unreal, and I was shocked when I started reading the comments on this thread more closely.

These are a small fraction of the hundreds that are on the thread-- this post covers a 50 minute span in hours of comments.

I'm glad I notified the Secret Service. The agent I talked to sounded as disgusted as I did about it as he looked at the page while we were on the phone.

They're watching, we can be sure (and comforted by that).

Anonymous,  February 24, 2009 at 12:34 AM

You know I have used the free republic for research on the RR before. Paul Weyrich used to post stuff there in the 90s.

Anonymous,  February 24, 2009 at 1:47 AM

Skye, I actually closed comments one day when it got out of control. Somebody or some people were posting multiple comments and I got a threat via email so I shut it down.

They have continued to come back and I just told Ruff Rider to take a hike. I know think this Electric Funk character may be one of them. Fair warning.

They have this bizarre idea that the Second Amendment gave them the right to "bear arms" to overthrow the government. It's insane. You can't discuss anything with them because if you don't believe what they believe you have "shit for brains."

This is the angry white person that Nixon and later Reagan tapped into. I read an interesting article that made the case that Reagan was a racist. He gave his first speech in a town where civil rights workers had been murdered to send a message to the angry white vote.

There is so much of that in the GOP that I am just so disgusted. They should be the AWP (Angry White People) and not the GOP because there is nothing "grand" about angry right wingnuts who can't deal with the fact that this country has moved on and left them behind.

Liberty .45ACP February 24, 2009 at 11:32 AM

Well, your glorious President Obama will have something in common with his hero, Lincoln. They both will go down in history as two of the Presidents causing the most damage to our Republic. I still rank Lincoln as #1. They are up there with FDR & Bush.

Mike W. February 24, 2009 at 2:33 PM

They have this bizarre idea that the Second Amendment gave them the right to "bear arms" to overthrow the government. It's insane. You can't discuss anything with them because if you don't believe what they believe you have "shit for brains."

It's not a "bizarre idea." it is EXACTLY why the 2nd Amendment is in the Constitution. A cursory reading of founding documents (I.E. the Federalist Papers) would bear this out.

If you deny that this is the stated purpose of the 2nd Amendment then I'd say "shit for brains" accurately describes you.

"That gun looks illegal"

There are no 'illegal' guns, only unconstitutional laws...

Matt G February 24, 2009 at 2:49 PM

This isn't free speech; this is a threat against our president and our politicians. That gun looks illegal, too.

Based on what? I don't have the pictured rifle, but if you're afraid that it "looks illegal" without even seeing the receiver, I'm curious what is so frightening.

The use of "[sic]" in your quote made you look didactic and pseudo-elitist, too. We know it's a quote, and that you cut-and-pasted. We didn't have any doubts that it was accurately copied. Therefore, the only reason to put in the editorial notes, was to point out the misspellings, rather than distance from error. It has the effect of your saying:
"Look how the mouth-breathing opposition cannot write! See how the uneducated masses support the other side! They are nothing but the Common Man! The... wait. Which side am I supposedly representing, again?"

Hope your tizzy has been exciting for you.

Mike W. February 24, 2009 at 2:52 PM

"Based on what? I don't have the pictured rifle, but if you're afraid that it "looks illegal" without even seeing the receiver, I'm curious what is so frightening. "

Well in Skyewriter's mind it's a GUN therefore it must be frightening and illegal.

Makes you wonder about her eh?

skyewriter February 24, 2009 at 2:56 PM

Actually, Matt, I was trying to be as fair to those I quoted as possible.

I didn't want anyone accusing me of altering their words to make them look illiterate or stupid.

You can take it as elitist if you want. I am merely communicating in an ethical manner (professional habit that spills into my blogging).

As far as the gun; it was a poor attempt at sarcasm. I neglected to remember how sensitive NRA members get at the mere mention of a gun.

A gun, is a gun, is a gun. It's people who shoot people.

Liberty .45ACP February 24, 2009 at 3:02 PM

They have this bizarre idea that the Second Amendment gave them the right to "bear arms" to overthrow the government. It's insane.

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." -- Thomas Jefferson

That's exactly what they had in mind.

the pistolero February 24, 2009 at 3:05 PM

Makes you wonder about her eh?

Now Mike, you really didn't expect these people to actually have any idea of what they were talking about, did you?

Mike W. February 24, 2009 at 3:09 PM

Of course not. They're blatantly ignorant of facts and incapable of rational thought.....or debate for that matter.

skyewriter February 24, 2009 at 3:17 PM

Show respect boys, or you won't be allowed to play.

I am not talking about guns in this post. I am talking about threats to kill the president.

That's the topic. If you are referring to someone else in the comment thread, please use their name and don't direct those comments at me.

Mike W. February 24, 2009 at 3:22 PM

I was merely referencing your "it looks illegal" part of THIS POST.

You said it, in this post, therefore it is "on topic." I was poking fun at your moronic statement is all.

skyewriter February 24, 2009 at 3:26 PM

Mike: please see my comment at 2:56, this comment thread re: gun.

driftwood February 24, 2009 at 3:28 PM

I am merely communicating in an ethical manner...

But what you are saying in these posts isn't true. Therefore it isn't ethical.

the pistolero February 24, 2009 at 3:31 PM

Show respect boys
How about you show some in return, as opposed to painting us all as a bunch of oversensitive, paranoid racists with itchy trigger fingers?
Oh, and Catherine...if you'd bothered to, y'know, actually READ the blogs written by those you deride, you'd know that they were "right wingnuts" only if one's point of reference is, say, Joe Stalin.

skyewriter February 24, 2009 at 3:37 PM

Wow: I am not going to go back and forth with you. The evidence is linked to the blog; I copied it word-for-word.

If anyone is trying to misrepresent things, it is you.

Mike W. February 24, 2009 at 3:46 PM

"Mike: please see my comment at 2:56, this comment thread re: gun."

Reading it in context it sure as hell doesn't sound like you were being sarcastic.

Regardless, my original comment still stands.

driftwood February 24, 2009 at 3:47 PM

You most definitely have misrepresented these people.

Meet some domestic terrorists

...sowing the seeds of a presidential assassination...

I'm armed, sometimes I'm pissed, but I'm sure as hell not "ready for civil war" at least not in the way you would mean it.

skyewriter February 24, 2009 at 4:02 PM

The post yesterday had the screen names of the commentators.

And, yes, the more I read on FR the crazier some people sounded.

I don't know any of you and didn't use any of your names in the post from yesterday or today.

One place I did say the "online GOP". That's what I read yesterday, that's what I copied and pasted.

If you have another perspective, please share it, because from the tenor of your comments, I am not really convinced otherwise.

You all read like you are really pissed off, and I can't get much beyond that from your comments.

driftwood February 24, 2009 at 4:09 PM

I'm not ticked off. I'm getting used to this. The more I read left leaning blogs, the more I expect irrational reactions like yours.

Never once in the last administration did I want to censor anyone's speech. People hated Bush and protested him all over the place, and I just listened. In America, we all have a right to our opinion.

But I keep reading on left leaning blogs that the Fairness Doctrine should be implemented, and that all the Limbaughs, Hannitys, Keyes, et al should be silenced.

It just doesn't make sense.

Mike W. February 24, 2009 at 4:15 PM

"But I keep reading on left leaning blogs that the Fairness Doctrine should be implemented, and that all the Limbaughs, Hannitys, Keyes, et al should be silenced.

actually it does make sense - What the left really wants is it's own breed of fascism. The idea that those on the left are tolerant or progressive is pure bullshit. Most liberals are the most bigoted, intolerant, rude folks I've ever been around.

skyewriter February 24, 2009 at 4:16 PM

Again, wow.

I cannot dialogue with you if you are lumping me in with a larger group of people.

Search my blog for the Fairness Doctrine. Not one instance.

I don't like those folks you mentioned, but then again, you don't like the people I read and listen to either.

I'm not going to hound you about it, since I understand we don't agree.

You think you're right, they think they're right.

Any ideas on how to be productive and not tear each other down?

As I said in my previous comment, everyone is so pissed, I can't get anything beyond that.

That's not a conversation and truly I think I've demonstrated my willingness to have one.

Not one comment deleted.
Not one person attacked who has commented.
Not one exclamation point.

Aren't you all as tired as I am of anger and hate?

driftwood February 24, 2009 at 4:40 PM

I already told you I wasn't angry, skyewriter.

Does a post have to use the exact words 'Fairness Doctrine' to convey the same desire to squelch the free speech of only certain individuals? How about this post, which I've linked to your opening comment:

"Free speech isn't always a good thing."

You go on to say that thankfully most of the blogosphere is left leaning, clearly showing your preference that only lefties have a voice.

Skyewriter said:
Any ideas on how to be productive and not tear each other down?

Maybe a good start might be to not assume that some people on the freeper blog are standing on rooftops with guns pointed toward elected officials?

Skyewriter said:
Aren't you all as tired as I am of anger and hate?

Yes, of course, which is why I came to Willpen's blog without any. I spoke my opinion respectfully to everyone and received nothing but insults in return.

skyewriter February 24, 2009 at 4:52 PM

I made some general observations in that link you provide about the kinds of things I was reading online.

It's my blog, I post things.

All I ask is that you don't blame me for all of the times you have been harassed online. I've owned my shortcomings in communicating with you, personally.

I'm trying to find common ground. If you want to keep the divide, that's your prerogative and I'll just say good luck and see ya.

driftwood February 24, 2009 at 4:56 PM

All I ask is that you don't blame me for all of the times you have been harassed online.

I'd never even think to do such a thing.

If you want to keep the divide, that's your prerogative and I'll just say good luck and see ya.

Never said I wanted that either.

Diogenes February 24, 2009 at 5:21 PM

Not all of us that are pissed off want ANY president dead. I have been preaching that no matter what happens (political manuevering, violence anything) Obama needs to be left alive. NO MARTYRS. Keep that in mind when you start tossing names out there. This country was once a great nation that people turned to get a new chance: Not a handout.
I work my ass off for what I make and I see Far too many 2nd and 3rd generation Welfare (I refuse to accept the idea of public assistance. Take that P.C. crap and shove it back down the toilet where it belongs)living around me. I agree that there may be a day where I would need that 'help' but I sure as hell don't demand it from my government. When you sign on to that wagon you are giving them more rein to lead you by. That is NOT what our founding fathers fought for.
Oh sorry, I forgot. Yours founding fathers probably didn't fight for it.
Mine did and I am ashamed at the current state of affairs and horrified to see 52% of the populace BEGGING for this. Wake up. Be an adult and deal yourself a better deal.

skyewriter February 24, 2009 at 5:33 PM

I don't take any kind of government assistance either, Diogenes, and we work and save our money. We don't have any debt (except for our student loans as we are finishing our doctorates) and aren't asking anyone to help us out.

And I agree that there are certain people who definitely take advantage of our system.

May I ask why you accuse me of this?

"Oh sorry, I forgot. Yours founding fathers probably didn't fight for it."

I'm a fifth generation American on my mother's side and can trace roots back to the the original colonies in part of my father's heritage.

I'm angry that our country is in the economic straights it is in, too. I'm pissed for people who played by the rules and got screwed. And that Wall Street got a blank check and all the free margaritas they could guzzle.

I'm not convinced anyone knows how to get us out of this mess. All I know is that the plan got passed less than two weeks ago and I hope to [insert whatever power here] that it works.

Do you advocate blowing up congress?

Or am I over-reacting?

Ah, another comment from booksbikesboomsticks.

What are you guys? High schoolers? College freshman?

Don't you have an exam to study for or paper you should be writing?

You might try being a normal teenager/college student and try getting laid on facebook instead of hanging out on my stinky, old-lady Gladys blog.

Nite-nite, kiddies.

Seems I'm kind of popular today.

Heh.

Skyewriter, I know you said that comments were closed, so I'm assuming that this comment is for your eyes only. Though I certainly don't mind if you publish it.

I just wanted to give you a link to a forum that might help you understand why people are concerned with the way that this country is headed and want the right to hold onto their guns:

http://theobamaforum.com/showthread.php?t=1779

I don't know if you've ever been there, but if you read it, it should sound to you very much like what happened in Nazi Germany where the 'Hitler youth' turned in their parents and others who did not agree with Hitler.

This is not a reflection on Obama, but on the mindset of some of his supporters. Do you not find this kind of speech dangerous? Should these people not be turned in to someone for sowing serious discord in families?

Diamond Mair February 28, 2009 at 11:03 PM

As one who has lived through the turmoil after a presidential assassination, I NEVER want to experience that again; I don't wish Obama ill {though I DO have to admit some degree of amusement over the problems he's having assembling a Cabinet - ethics? We don't need no steenkin' ethics! ;-) }.

I do NOT believe that he qualifies, under the Constitution, as a 'natural born Citizen' - as a former Marine, were I on active duty NOW, I would have severe reservations about the lawfulness of any orders he gives. BUT - I'm willing to trust that the 'balance of powers' {between the Executive/Legislative/Judicial branches} will preclude his taking his ideas too far.
