Lies, lies, lies

The GOP is lying about everything from:

  • The final size of ARRA. It started at 736 pages--- it's now up to 759 pages--- which means 23* WHOLE pages of amendments have been added. John Boehner just claimed on the floor of the House that the bill is over 1,100 pages long. This cements further that this man has not even looked at the bill, much less read it.
  • How much time reps and senators have had to read it (um, like two weeks now?)
  • The crap about the health care records director being a new position (George Bush created the position FIVE years ago; here's a link to the fella's bio)
  • The purpose of the health care record system that Limberger LIED about yesterday, as did Fox without even bothering to verify facts and sources
  • The provision that will STOP people like Flush from getting the same prescription from multiple doctors. A doctor, in reality as put forth in the bill, will be able to access a list of prescriptions any patient is currently filling at any pharmacy.
There's more, but my complexion is finally starting to clear and Valentine's Day is tomorrow. I want to be in a good mood for my husband's sake and mine, too.

Frankly, I am sick of this whole bipartisan bullshit.

The GOP ideas are the ones that got us here, today, having to spend our way out of this mess in a terrible economy where unemployment is nearing 8%, housing foreclosures are affecting the secondary market now (not just the bad loans), and small businesses are shutting door, after door, after door.

Obama tried, they've all said no, and acted like tools. That's it. They had their shot.

It's time to move on and move upward.

Be part of the solution or get the hell out of the way.

Check out this video of Dave Obey making the closing case against the GOP's lies this afternoon on the House Floor:

PS: We must stand up against the lies. The Bush Administration lied time after time after time. Here's the link to a petition to urge an investigation of these criminals:

* Funny thing to prove my well-placed fear of numbers. I had to change this number 3 times today.

So you wern't kidding about your complexion?

Sidhe February 13, 2009 at 12:39 PM

They won't get anything past you! Reminds me of some old adage about not believing everything you see on TV.

I think your complexion issue migrated to my chin...

Not joking about the complexion.

I have had c-span on all morning as I look through the modified bill.

I am starting to think the congressional GOP has a literacy problem. The truth is in the bill. How can they keep missing it?

Some guy from Lansing is on right now saying that hybrid vehicles will cost taxpayers money in the end-- a dollar more for electricity--not a word about the petroleum savings? Or the jobs to American auto makers, etc.

I've got an idea for job creation. We hire a bunch of people to find out how these people managed to get diplomas and degrees. We'll have to audit their transcripts, learning institutions and even the professors, instructors and teachers involved to determine where the break down in critical thinking skills occurred.

Seriously.

I think members of congress should pass an exam on history, civics, economics, language and literacy, and current social and cultural issues BEFORE being allowed to run.

These are our leaders; what's wrong with them being informed and literate?

I have been saying something to that effect for years. That every 2 yrs they have to complete a basic Am Govt 101 class or be removed from office.

GOP has a literacy Problem? NO way, I mean look at that genius Sarah Palin.
You Betcha!

For Christ's sake don't read my blog, you will get Hives for sure!

I have been watching C-Span today. It's giving me a headache. Anyway, ProPublica has published the detailed list of spending. If you want to refer people to it,please do.

Also, if people could sign the petition to investigate Bush, I would appreciate it. The needed thousands of signatures to get this going.

Thanks for the link, Catherine.

I signed and forwarded it to my address book.

I'll put a link on my blog, too.

Thank you Skye!

Execellent post. The Republicans are completely full of themselves. Those in Congress not only lie, but they are acting like spoiled little children who didn't get what they wanted and they are going to SHOW YOU! They obviously don't care about their constituents and they are determined to do whatever they can to have Obama fall on his face.

Arlen Specter (R) even said today that several of his Republican colleagues would've voted for the bill except that they had an election coming up and didn't want to be tainted by it...or other such self-absorbed crap.

Somebody give these little children a blanket and a bottle. All they do is whine and say NO!

Thanks for stopping by all, and to you AustinTXGal for your first comment, too.

The GOP is going to be in for a world of trouble come spring next year. The blogosphere has a long and complete memory. To borrow a [modified] line from Herbert: "The sleepers have awakened".
