Abortion doctor murdered at church in Kansas
This just broke on the Huff Post.
George Tiller, 67, was shot and killed at his church in Wichita, Kansas. According to the article, Tiller's clinic was bombed in 1985 and he was shot in both arms in an attack in 1993.
I was curious to know about Kansas' laws on late-term terminations; found that they are legal under Kansas law according to a recent New York Times article.
Vigilante justice...
When the law doesn't agree with you, shoot first and who cares about questions?
So much for the right to life, huh?
And what was that about extremism (on both sides of the spectrum) being a concern in the US?
The right definitely owns this one.

Nice to have you back. Wondering where you've been :). This is scary (but somehow not surprising).
Wow. Although I don't agree with the late term abortion stuff.
Ho horrible! I will never understand that side.
Who knew it was okay to shoot people in their own church!
I just saw this on Grandpa Eddie's blog...it makes me so mad that these terrorists aren't taken as seriously as people across the continents.
The right-wing fascists definitely own this one. I wonder how Rushole, and Newter will respond to this.
Damn christo-fascists! Against abortion but it's ok to shoot doctors! What kind of f**ked up logic is that?!?!
This is the beginning of a long chain of violent acts perpetrated by the right wing extremists.
I wrote about this as well. Sickening.
The Right to Lifers have always side stepped the question of why abortion is wrong but capital punishment is okay. War and Torture are okay too.
I suspect you are correct, though, that this sort of domestic terrorism will escalate now that so many Right Wing Extremists are shaking in their boots. A good way to counteract it would be to indict Dick Cheney and other American War Criminals.
It will be interesting to hear the spin from the right tomorrow. Like Grandpa Eddie, Limpdick and Associates are going to have a field day with this, unless they still want to trash Sotomayor.
I remember those earlier incidents. They were frightening enough but this is beyond my ability to understand.
We have our own holy war right here.
Any nutcase can hide behind religion as an excuse for murder. How is that different from being a terrorist?
And is no one watching out for "our own"to do us in like Tim McVey did? Someone had to know this guy was lying in wait...
People are not going to change their minds about the abortion issue (pro or con).
I don't understand why President Obama thinks there can actually be middle ground on this or even some kind of dialogue when this is the only kind of response most people ever see of the right-to-lifers.
I cannot tell you how pissed off I used to get when I went to PP for my annual pelvic exam because that was all I could afford. Facing the speculum was bad enough; having to go through the small gaggle of old, white men holding horrific pictures made it that much worse.
I cannot understand the seemingly irreconcilable positions of being pro-fetus yet wanting to kill and torture human beings.
'Spose I should quit trying to find logic where there obviously is none.
You're right there's no logic in this, at least not that a sound mind can grasp.
It's about women's rights. Another sick irony is that the nut who kills a doctor who works to maintain women's rights is probably one of the same nuts who continually talk about his rights and the rights of the unborn. It's sick.
I mentioned today on my blog that the Florida case a few years ago was essentially, doc murders fetus, pro-lifer murders doc, State of Florida murders pro-life guy. Talk about sick.
Could someone explain to me how this isn't terrorism?
Late term abortion is supposed to be used only if the health/life of the mother or the baby is at stake. I know someone who had it done. It's awful. I hate the thought of it. The alternative...that the mother or baby could be at risk if the pregnancy is continued...that's the only thing that can make this at all acceptable.
The extreme right is out of control and Fox News and others are fanning the flames. The hypocrisy of this is stunning...to kill someone because you call them a killer.
and the media continues to fan the flames...I'm really, really irritated by the headlines on this one.
