Out again

Tom's elderly mother, who also lives alone, fell last Friday.

We left town and just got back late last night.

There are some tough decisions ahead for us...

Lots of work to catch up on.

I haven't had internet access for many days.

To the gun people who have once again decided to mob my blog-- I will not engage you.

AztecRed: I appreciate your calm and polite online demeanor.

It's become obvious to me that I am not allowed to have a dissenting opinion (even tho' I am not condoning, nor ever have condoned, the ban of *all* guns)--- on. my. own. blog.

I have also witnessed the irrational comments by those who seek to split hairs about assault weapons.

I. am. so. not. going. there.

Your minds will not be changed by reading my blog.

My mind will not be changed until Obama actually *does something in terms of legislation as POTUS* to prove the un-arming point.

Why waste my time and yours?

Capiche?

Terrible news about Tom's mom. I trust that whatever decisions you and Tom need to make will be well thought out and with the best intentions. I was wondering where you ran off to. I thought maybe you were sitting on a beach somewhere sipping on a fruity drink. Feel free to go there mentallly :)

Seriously though, have you seen all of the news lately (there have been so many)on shootings. This is more than just a gun rights problem.

Thanks, Aliceson.

I indeed wish I was off sipping a fruity drink on a beach somewhere... oh, to have another honeymoon :).

Sorry about Toms mom. I wondered where you have been.

There are just some topics that people will never agree on. I read through the links you posted and I can see where you are coming from.

Everyone is entitled to there own opinions. It is your blog. I enjoy your writing and it seems gun posts are a small part of what you talk about. It shows they really do not care about you or your ideas. They just want you to bow to there ideas. Why no comments on your less political stuff I wonder.

I know theres more to me than my views on guns and my rights to own them. Just like theres more to your ideas than just you trying to show the other side. Some people just wont see it because they dont want to.

You and Tom and his mom are in my prayers.

Thank you, potterfield.

I did start comment moderation, but I can assure you there has not been one. single. comment. from the nasties on anything aside from posts about president Obama or the handful of posts in which I mention the word "gun" (out of *163* posts since November 5, 2008).

I guess they do not realize that I can see what they click on on my blog... only one of the new (or obsessively checking) IP addresses has actually clicked on the links I provided... then clicked right back *less than 30 seconds later* to the original post. I provided four links in my last post... not even the world's fastest speed reader could cover that amount of material in that time.

By evidence of their own activity, they *did not even bother* to read the sources I provided before immediately trying to tear down my argument.

One commenter even claimed that I needed to "prove" my point. However, he apparently failed to read the links supporting my position, by which I established my position and hence, my point.

Also, I am accused that I don't want to hear other perspectives. Maybe they should try reading what I post rather than attacking my position before they have even read what that position is.

I can't even set up parameters for the discussion (you know, stipulations for the debate, such as "recent" votes) without being accused of not wanting to be informed about the other side.

I'm done with them.

Hey Skye,

I was wondering what happened and missed you! I am very sorry to hear about Tom's mom. Like Aliceson, i assumed you were on a pre-graduation vacation by the water somewhere.

My heart goes out to you and Tom and I know that whatever you decide, it will be the right thing.

My mind will not be changed until Obama actually *does something in terms of legislation as POTUS* to prove the un-arming point. It won't be through legislation that he restricts the arms we're allowed to purchase Nor will he disarm the whole country, he doesn't have that on his agenda, nor does he have the votes to do it Congress.

Instead it'll be an Executive Order that restricts the importation of "non sporting" weapons just like Bush 43 and Bush 41 did. Bush 41 cut off semi-automatics from China and Bush 43 restricted importation of barrels for "non sporting" guns from other countries.

If I had to take a guess Obama will shut down importation of the Saiga line of guns coming out of Russia. Just a hunch. Most gun owners don't know of them and they're based off the Ak-47 design. They're a perfect scape goat.

Obama -is- going to screw with our ability to purchase various guns, but it will be fairly minor to all but the most serious of gun owners. Bush 43, Clinton, Bush 41, and Reagan all did. I'm damned sure McCain would have too. Hell, that a-hole got up in front of the NRA and told everybody there he was pretty keen on closing the "gun show loophole" which is really the intrastate private transfer of firearms that the Federal government has no business with.

To expect Obama, who has endorsed another AWB on his whitehouse.gov webpage, to be any better on gun rights than our last 4 presidents is laughable. He's going to screw us, just like the Republicans have, the only question is how hard.

So, Obama is going to "to screw with our ability to purchase various guns, but it will be fairly minor to all but the most serious of gun owners"

~but~

"To expect Obama, who has endorsed another AWB on his whitehouse.gov webpage, to be any better on gun rights than our last 4 presidents is laughable"

Limiting the types of weapons people are licensed to own and operate is not "screwing the pooch" in my book and apparently not your's either.

People will maintain their gun ownership-- claiming he's going to "take people's guns away" (i.e. all guns) is blatantly misleading and needlessly inflammatory.

If he bans all weapons as some are claiming he will do, I will be the first blogger to say "I was wrong".

That's not going to happen.

The current democratic party-in-power is not as stupid about gun rights as the GOP would like to portray.

I'm catching up on posts in reverse order.

I'm so sorry to hear about Tom's mom. I know that life often requires that we make the hard decisions. Sending you strength, support and any other energy you need.
